Rebecca Zima is a Florida Supreme Court Certified Family Law Mediator.
Mediation is a process in which a neutral mediator works with the parties in a family law case in order to facilitate negotiation of an agreement on the pending issues. Florida courts generally refer all contested initial family law cases, including initial divorces and paternity actions and contested requests for modification of a current order, to mediation prior to setting the case for a final hearing. The specific mediator used in any particular case may be chosen by the attorneys for the parties, the parties themselves if they do not have attorneys, or by the court.
As a mediator, Rebecca Zima, does not work for or advocate for either party, but instead assists the parties in attempting to resolve their issues themselves rather than putting their assets, what is in their children’s best interests and other important life issues in the hands of a judge. Ms. Zima’s extensive experience with family law litigation, strong grasp of Florida family law and effective communication style all combine to provide parties and their lawyers with an effective family law mediation experience.
Resolving a case through the mediation process not only saves parties a great deal of money that would be otherwise be required to take their case to trial, but it also provides parties with a sense of agency in the decisions made and ends the increased conflict and family stress experienced as a result of ongoing litigation.
