She then earned her law degree in 1993 from the Indiana University School of Law in Bloomington, Indiana. After graduating from law school, she worked as a Deputy Prosecutor in Indianapolis, Indiana for over two years before moving to Jacksonville, Florida.
Ms. Zima served as an Assistant State Attorney for the Fourth Judicial Circuit for over twelve years prior to starting her own private practice in Fleming Island in 2007, when she began focusing on family law. While with the State Attorney’s Office, Ms. Zima was promoted to a supervisory position and eventually served as a Division Chief in both the Duval and Clay County offices. As a Division Chief, she supervised and trained fellow Assistant State Attorneys while continuing to personally prosecute homicides and DUI fatalities.
